Office Relocation in Hillsboro & Greater Portland: Friday Close, Monday Open
Family-Owned & Operated | ODOT #275978 · USDOT #3604556 | Published Rates: Evenings & Weekends Available | Google 4.8★ Rated | Open 7 AM–10 PM, Every Day
The perfect office move is the one your clients never notice. Phones forwarded Friday at five, desks rebuilt and labeled boxes waiting at every workstation Monday at eight, and nothing in between but a weekend your business didn't need anyway. That's the move Butterfield plans for offices across Hillsboro, Beaverton, Tigard, Tualatin, Lake Oswego, Portland, and the rest of Greater Portland.
Office moves here run on the same published rates as everything we do, $150.35 per hour for two movers at standard hours, with evening and Sunday work at rates you can read below, not discover on an invoice. Your building's certificate of insurance lands usually within an hour. Your workstations get mapped to the new floor plan before a single drawer is emptied. And the crew that shows up is the one our reviews describe: 'arrived ready to rock at 8am… fast', and flexible enough to keep a moving plan intact when business reality shifts it. (Alicia K., Google review)
One suite or a whole floor, call Patrick, book the walk-through, and give your staff a move memo instead of a move project.
Built Backward From Monday
We schedule from your reopening hour in reverse, load-out window, transfer, rebuild, so the deadline designs the move.
Workstation Mapping
Every desk, chair, monitor, and box labeled to a numbered spot on the new floor plan. Monday morning, people sit down and work.
COI Within the Hour
Both buildings' insurance requirements handled, usually within an hour, no fee.
Published Rates, No Office Premium
$150.35/hr standard, evening/Sunday rates printed below. The walk-through turns them into a fixed plan.
Honest IT Boundaries
Powered-down workstations: yes, labeled and cable-bagged. Live servers and racks: no, we coordinate with your IT provider instead of gambling with your uptime.
The Owner Plans Your Move
Patrick walks the suite and builds the schedule, and both owners answer all weekend.
Three Decisions That Decide Whether Monday Works
Office moves fail at desks-per-hour math less often than they fail at sequencing. These are the three sequencing decisions that separate the offices that open Monday from the ones that spend a week apologizing to clients.
Pick the reopening hour first
Most office moves get planned forward from 'when can the movers come', and that's backward. The right first question is 'when must we be operational,' because everything else derives from it: a Monday 8 AM reopen means a weekend transfer, which means a Friday-evening load-out at our published evening rates, which means labeling finishes Thursday. We build that chain with you during the walk-through, and then the deadline runs the project rather than chasing it.
Decision 1
Map the new office before touching the old one
An office that loads before it's mapped arrives as a pile. The mapping discipline is simple and non-negotiable: the new floor plan gets numbered, every workstation inherits its number, and every box, chair, and monitor carries it. The cost is an hour of planning. The alternative is your team spending Monday playing detective with their own desks.
Decision 2
Schedule IT like a second mover
Computers are the last thing packed and the first thing needed. The move that works books your IT provider as deliberately as it books us: disconnect scheduled for load-out evening, reconnect scheduled before staff returns, and our crew delivering every cable-bagged, desk-labeled machine to its numbered spot in between. We coordinate directly with your IT people; what we won't do is impersonate them.
Decision 3
From One Suite to a Full Floor
Office moving is workstation logistics plus furniture engineering plus building choreography, in any combination your move throws at us. The full scope.
-
• Professional suites: law, insurance, accounting, real estate, consulting
• Creative studios and agencies
• Full-floor corporate offices
• Growing teams moving up a suite size: our most common office job
• Office downsizes and hybrid-era consolidations
• Office-within-a-move: home offices handled inside residential moves
-
• Desks, sit-stand bases, and workstation furniture: disassembled and rebuilt
• Conference tables, credenzas, and reception furniture
• Files in sealed, numbered boxes: counted out, counted in
• Desktops, monitors, printers, and peripherals: powered down, cable-bagged, desk-labeled
• Copiers and heavy equipment: quoted per piece, honestly
• Whiteboards, art, and the everything-else of a working office
-
• Freight-elevator and dock windows: you reserve, we spec the request, and hit the slot
• COIs to both buildings, usually within an hour
• Floor, jamb, and lobby protection at both ends
• Evening and weekend windows at the published rates below
• Phased moves when the new space finishes in stages
How a Butterfield Office Move Runs
Walk-through: both spaces if possible
Patrick walks through the current office and, ideally, the new one: workstation count, furniture systems, equipment list, elevator, and dock reality at both ends. The full plan and cost structure land before you commit.
The backward schedule
Reopening hour chosen, chain built in reverse: rebuild window, transfer day, load-out evening, labeling deadline. Your staff gets a one-page memo version; nobody needs to attend meetings about boxes. The memo covers the four things staff actually need: pack-by date, box-label format, what stays behind, and where their desk number lives on the new plan.
Paperwork and reservations
COIs out usually within an hour. You book the freight elevator and dock windows, we tell you exactly what to request from each property manager, and then arrive inside the slot.
Mapping and labeling week
The new floor plan gets numbered, workstations get tagged, staff pack personal items into labeled boxes (or our packers do it at $56.40 per hour per packer). IT disconnect gets scheduled for load-out evening.
Load-out: usually a Friday evening
Furniture comes apart on the bag-and-label system, electronics travel cable-bagged and desk-labeled, and files move sealed. Both buildings get floor and jamb protection before the first dolly rolls.
Rebuild to the numbered plan
Desks and conference tables are rebuilt first, every box lands at its numbered station, and furniture is placed to the map. If your IT reconnect happens on Sunday, the machines are waiting at their desks when the technician walks in.
The Monday-morning walkthrough
You or your office manager walks the space against the plan before staff arrive. Payment at completion: card, check, or cash. No deposit was ever required to hold the weekend.

What Office Clients Can Verify Before Hiring Us
Office references usually travel by phone, not review pages, so here's what the public Google record proves about the three things an office move lives on: punctuality, precision, and pace.
-
Office moves run on reserved windows, a crew that misses the freight elevator slot costs you the whole plan. The record: 'Patrick and Aiden arrived ready to rock at 8am. They were fast, and there were stairs involved!' The same review calls our hourly rate the best around, at published prices, you can check that math yourself. (Alicia K., Google review)
-
A rebuilt office is hundreds of placement decisions executed correctly. The record: 'They handled all my furniture with care and made moving… way less stressful than I expected. Everything arrived in perfect condition, and they even helped place things exactly where I wanted.' Swap the living room for a bullpen and that's the Monday-morning standard. (K. P., Google review)
-
Speed that survives a checklist: one customer with a long, multi-service job, furniture, oversized items, disassembly, the works, called us 'honestly the easiest move in crew I've ever worked with.' Easy for the customer is the entire design goal of the office process above. (Hugo, Google review)

Office Moving in Greater Portland Has Local Rules
Friday night in the business parks
The Westside's office stock. Hillsboro, Tanasbourne, AmberGlen, Beaverton, moves on Friday evenings, because parks are empty, docks are free, and Monday is sacred. Our 7 AM–10 PM window covers the load-out evening cleanly, and Saturday transfer days bill at standard rates. The plan practically writes itself out here; the trick is booking the date before another office does. For small suites, there's an even simpler version: a single evening, load at six, rebuilt by ten, that never touches the weekend at all.
The 217 corridor's professional plazas
Law, dental, insurance, and accounting suites cluster in low-rise plazas along 217 through Beaverton, Tigard, and Lake Oswego, shared parking lots, no docks, ground-floor or single-elevator access. Those moves are shuttle logistics: truck staged across the lot, boxes batched at the door, and a crew that treats a 200-foot carry as the job, not a grievance.
Rain, electronics, and the loading dock gap
Eight months a year, the distance between lobby and liftgate is a water hazard for everything an office owns: monitors, paper files, upholstered chairs. Electronics travel boxed and wrapped, file boxes stay lidded and off wet pavement, and both lobbies get floor protection; your landlord's marble cares as much as your equipment does.
Downtown towers: the freight-elevator regime
Portland's towers run office moves through reserved freight elevators with certificates of insurance on file and dock windows that don't negotiate. Tenants make those reservations, we spec the exact request, arrive padded and inside the slot, and treat the building's rules as part of the move plan rather than a surprise.
Moving between suburbs, off-peak
An office move from Beaverton to Hillsboro at 5 PM on a weekday sits in the same traffic as your commuters do. Evening and weekend windows don't just protect your business hours; they put the truck on 26 and 217 when the corridors actually move, which your hourly bill appreciates.
Tenant-improvement timing
New office build-outs finish late more often than they finish early, and an office move chained to a contractor's punch list needs flexibility, not penalties. With no deposits and rescheduling on notice, sliding the move a week costs a phone call, not a fee. Phased moves into half-finished space work, too; the map just gets two versions.
The small-suite economy
Most Westside offices have fewer than 20 workstations, and their moves fit a two- or three-mover crew, sometimes within the 3-hour minimum. We size office crews like every other crew: to the job. A twelve-desk insurance office shouldn't fund a forty-desk invoice. It cuts the other way too: when a growing team is bursting out of its suite, the move to a bigger space is usually smaller than they fear; most of the cost lies in the furniture count, not square footage.
What Professional Office Relocation Actually Involves
Backward scheduling, formalized
The chain runs: reopening hour → IT reconnect window → rebuild block → transfer → load-out evening → labeling deadline → packing days. Each link gets a date at the walk-through, each date gets an owner (you, us, or your IT provider), and the one-page version goes to your staff. Offices don't miss Mondays because moving is hard; they miss them because nobody built the chain.
The IT handshake, step by step
Load-out evening: your IT provider powers down and disconnects; our crew bags cables per station, labels everything to its desk number, and packs machines padded and boxed. Transfer: electronics ride wrapped, never bottom-of-stack. Delivery: Every machine waits at its numbered desk before the reconnect window opens. Your technician works in a tidy room instead of an archaeology site, and your uptime never depends on a mover's confidence.
Two buildings, two sets of rules
Move-out buildings care about lobby protection and elevator hours; move-in buildings add COIs and dock windows. Both sets of requirements get collected at the walk-through and built into the schedule, because the only cheap time to learn a building rule is before move night.
The numbering system
Workstation 14 is workstation 14 everywhere: on the new floor plan, on the desk tag, on every box from that desk, on the monitor's cable bag. Loading happens in number order, the truck unloads in reverse, and rebuild fills the plan from the far wall toward the door. The system survives crew handoffs, dead phone batteries, and Monday-morning amnesia, which is the point.
Files, sealed and counted
File boxes seal at the old office and unseal at the new one, counted onto the truck, counted off, numbered against a manifest your office manager keeps. For practices with confidentiality obligations, the protocol doubles as the audit trail: we move documents; we never need to read them.
Coverage for office goods
Oregon's released-value default, $0.60 per pound, covers office moves the same as household ones, and replacement-cost protection is available if you choose to purchase it; for equipment-heavy offices, it's worth the walk-through conversation. If something is damaged on our watch, we will submit a claim upon request.
Sit-stand desks and modern office furniture
Today's offices move sit-stand bases with motors and control boxes, monitor arms with clamp hardware, and acoustic panels that scratch if you look at them the wrong way. Bases travel padded and flat with controllers bagged to the desk number; arms come off and bag with their bolts; panels get padded like the furniture they are. Complex modular systems are assessed honestly during the walkthrough; if something requires the manufacturer's installer, we say so before the bid.

Give Your Staff a Memo, Not a Move Project
One walk-through gets the backward schedule, the numbered map, the COIs, and a weekend plan that ends with Monday working. From the family company whose rates you just read. Bring the new floor plan to the walk-through if you have it, the numbering starts there, and so does the calm.
