From May through October, Saturdays in downtown Gresham are shared with the Gresham Farmers' Market. It runs at the Center for the Arts Plaza, on NE Third Street between Hood and Kelly avenues, every Saturday from 8:30 AM to 2 PM. For an office in those blocks, that is the same Saturday a business might choose, so the move does not cost a working weekday.

Our trucks need 45 to 60 minutes to reach downtown Gresham, so an office move here is booked for the next day or later, and the market calendar and the city parking code are both included in the plan on the first call.

If your office is within a few blocks of the Arts Plaza, here is how to plan around it.

Market Saturday and the Downtown Blocks

This section matters only if the office, or the new space, sits near the plaza. If yours is out on a business-park street, skip ahead to pricing.

Which offices it touches

Shoppers are pointed to street parking all around the plaza, especially on Fourth and Fifth, so the blocks to plan around are wider than the plaza itself: offices facing Second and Third, and anything on Fourth or Fifth, sit inside the market's footprint for the morning. Send us both addresses. A move between two downtown suites meets the market at both ends of the day, while a move from a downtown suite out to a business-park unit meets it only at the first stop, and that usually settles which end of the job takes the early hours.

No closure, but a full curb

No street closure is listed for the market, and we do not plan for one. The streets stay open, and the truck can reach your door. What changes is everything else about the curb: on a market Saturday, the frontage outside your door is a space a shopper can use too, so the length you need can be taken before the truck arrives, and the people walking between the plaza and their cars are crossing the same stretch of sidewalk the crew is carrying across. Neither of those rules out a summer Saturday. Both are reasons to settle the hour before you sign a date.

Curb space can go early

A box truck needs a continuous length of curb along the door for the entire load, which is different from a parking space. A truck that ends up a block away turns every trip into a longer roll past people carrying produce, and it multiplies: an office load is many trips, and a minute added to each is time on the bill. If your building has a rear door, an alley approach, or a lot on the side away from the plaza, mention it on the first call, because staging there can keep the truck off the busiest frontage entirely. For a private lot, get the owner's or property manager's written permission before the date. A lot that is comfortably yours on a Tuesday can be somebody else's overflow on a market Saturday.

After October 31

The 2026 season ends October 31. If the lease allows any flexibility, a Saturday from November onward takes the market out of the picture entirely: same street, same building, same rate column, no plaza. If the lease ends a few days before November, ask the landlord early whether the date can slide. For a move planned next spring, check the new season's listing before you sign a date, because season dates can shift from year to year.

Gresham's rule for heavy trucks at the curb

Gresham's parking code, GRC 8.25.010, bars parking a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds or more on a city street "except for the immediate loading or unloading of persons or property." Butterfield Moving is a licensed family company based in Hillsboro, and our trucks are rated at 25,999 pounds, well above that line, so the rule covers your job and not only the semis on the highway. The same section limits an alley stop to loading or unloading, "and in no case for a period in excess of 30 consecutive minutes."

Read plainly, that rules out the plan most people reach for first: bring the truck downtown early, hold a good length of curb and wait for the plaza to empty. A truck at the curb has to be working. So the planning runs the other way around. We time the departure from our yard, 45 to 60 minutes out, to land the truck at your door near the hour carrying can start, and the 15-minute spread in that drive is why we plan to the hour and not to the minute. We put the load on the street frontage or a private lot, because an alley suits a 30-minute burst and a full office load runs for hours.

Gresham Office Moving Rates

Whichever time you choose, the hourly rate comes from the column it falls in.

Get a Gresham office estimate

Office crew and truck: Monday–Saturday, 7 AM–7 PM

  • 2 movers + truck: $150.35 per hour · 3 movers + truck: $206.75 per hour · 4 movers + truck: $263.15 per hour
  • 3-hour minimum · $56.40 per hour for each additional mover or packer
  • Evenings after 7 PM Mon–Sat, and Sundays (3-hour minimum): $195.20 / $273.40 / $351.60 per hour
  • Holiday rate (3-hour minimum): $230.50 / $325.50 / $420.50 per hour

The drive from our Hillsboro yard is part of the hours and billed at the same hourly rate as the crew, and on a Gresham job, it is 45 to 60 minutes each way. The free estimate prices the crew and the rate column you picked, with that drive already in the hours, so the Saturday decision is made with the numbers in front of you. Here is which column each realistic window falls in.

Saturday before 8:30 AM: the standard column

The standard Monday to Saturday card covers 7 AM to 7 PM, so an early Saturday load sits in the same column as a Tuesday morning. The 45- to 60-minute drive sets how early a Saturday crew can be on site, and the arithmetic is tighter than it looks: a crew working from the first minute of the 7 AM rate is at your door between 7:45 and 8:00, which leaves 30 to 45 minutes of carrying before the market opens at 8:30. A handful of desks, chairs, and file cabinets is the only load that fits inside that. The card bills a 3-hour minimum in every column, so a 90-minute job is billed for three hours all the same, and every carton has to be packed and taped on Friday, by your staff or by ours, because no time is left to fill boxes once the crew is carrying.

Saturday after 2 PM: standard until 7, evening after

Once the market closes at 2 PM, a Saturday afternoon load runs on the standard card until 7 PM, and any hours past 7 PM fall into the evening column. The thing to watch is the overrun: an afternoon that starts at 3 and runs long crosses a rate line at 7. Keep in mind too that 2 PM is when the market closes, which is earlier than when the last shopper drives away. We can plan a mid-afternoon arrival and have someone at the office look at the curb before the truck leaves for the block.

Friday after 7 PM: the evening column, all of it

A Friday load that begins after 7 PM bills in the evening column from its first hour, with no standard-rate hours in the job at all. What you buy for that is a clear Saturday: the new space is full, and your team can spend the weekend arranging it, and the market never enters the plan. The estimate prices this window beside the others, so the trade is on paper before you book.

A Sunday, or an ordinary weekday

The card puts Sundays in the same column as weekday evenings, so a Sunday move downtown, with no market on the street, still bills at the evening rate for every hour. A weekday occupies the standard column from 7 AM to 7 PM, and the only cost is the working day the office gives up. For a business that can close on a Tuesday, that is the simplest window on the card.

Released Value, Replacement Cost and Claims

Released value at $0.60 per pound is the legal floor, not a plan. Replacement-cost protection is available if you choose to purchase it. We will submit a claim upon request.

Questions We Get From Downtown Gresham

Our office is three blocks off the plaza. Does the market still matter?

It can. Shoppers are directed to street parking well beyond the plaza itself, so a curb on Fourth or Fifth fills the way the ones on Third do. Give us the cross street, and we will check the footprint.

Can the truck wait at the curb until the market clears at two?

No. The city code allows a truck of that size on the street for immediate loading or unloading, so a truck parked early and waiting is not permitted by the rule. We time the departure from the yard so the crew lands close to the hour, allowing the carrying can to start.

The market runs May through October. Is a winter Saturday simpler?

The plaza is clear, and the curb is ordinary. The rate card does not change with the season: a Saturday between 7 AM and 7 PM is the standard column, whatever the month.

We are moving downtown out to a business-park unit. Which end sets the start time?

The downtown end, because that is the one that meets the market. The business-park unload has no market clock.
