A Family Moving Company, Built the Slow Way

Butterfield Moving started in December 2020, when Patrick Butterfield decided that ten-plus years of moving other people's households for other people's companies had taught him exactly how he'd do it differently: publish rates, keep the phone in the family, and build crews so careful that customers name them in reviews. ODOT certified us in May 2021. The rest is on the trucks.

Ten Years Learning, Five Years Proving

Patrick spent over a decade in the moving trade, five of those years at one company, watching what breaks a move: crews padded to inflate the bill, quotes that grow after loading, damage claims that vanish into portals. Then he built the inversion. Patrick coined the term when he started the business, it just went with the name. Butterfield Moving means a published rate card, crew sizes set honestly at the walk-through, and a damage policy four words long; we submit a claim upon request.

Patrick and Amy Butterfield run the office, the calendar, scheduling, building rules, and the night-before parking plans our crews are known for. Patrick grew up in Portland, which is why our service area reads like a family map, not a marketing radius.

The Standard, In Plain Terms

  • A rate you read before you call: $150.35 to $263.15 per hour by crew size, printed in public

  • A walkthrough on arrival, floor runners down before the first box, and a crew that calls when it's en route

  • A crew sized to your house, not to the invoice: the industry's over-staffing habit is the reason we publish everything

  • No deposits, free rescheduling with one to two weeks' notice, payment only at completion

  • A handwritten thank-you note after the move: small, but it tells you who packed your kitchen

A Family Company With the Family In It

Aiden Butterfield works the crews, second generation, same standard, the name that shows up in reviews next to the customers' own. And the youngest Butterfield, PJ, is thirteen: officially a future mover, currently in charge of quality-inspecting the family photos. The company is built to be worth inheriting, with accountability and a family name on it.

Meet everyone properly on the team page.

Move With the Family

One call gets a straight answer, a published number, and a crew that treats your house like the family business depends on it, because it does.
