Beaverton apartments come in more than one shape. Older garden-style complexes spread two- and three-story units across a campus of parking lots and exterior stairs. Townhome-style rentals give each unit its own front door and its own staircase. Newer mid-rise buildings near transit put a garage underneath and a corridor on every floor. The building you leave and the building you move into decide how far each piece travels, where the truck can stop, and how many movers the day needs.
Butterfield Moving is owned by the Butterfield family and licensed by ODOT, and our Hillsboro yard sits about two miles from Beaverton's northwest edge. We move Beaverton apartments at published hourly rates, with furniture pads, shrink-wrap, and taking apart and rebuilding furniture all covered by the hour.

Three Building Types, Three Different Carries
Before we talk crew size, we ask what the building looks like from the parking lot. Each of these three layouts puts the hard part of the move in a different place.
The garden-style complex: the long walk
In a sprawling complex, the walk can take more time than the stairs. A unit can sit behind two other buildings, around a courtyard and up a flight, with the nearest spot a truck can stop a full lot away. On the call, we ask which building letter you are in, how many steps sit between your door and the pavement, and where the leasing office wants moving trucks to stand. A long path is one of the few things that can make a third mover worth the higher hourly rate, because the extra pair of hands shortens every trip across the lot.
If your complex has a site map, snap a photo of it and text it to us. Building letters do not always run in order, and a map saves the crew a lap around the property on the first trip.
The townhome-style rental: the private stair
Some Beaverton rentals are built like townhomes, with a living floor at street level, bedrooms upstairs, and sometimes a garage below. Nobody else shares your stair, which helps. That stair is also narrow, and when it turns at the top, that turn is where a queen box spring, a dresser with a mirror, or a sleeper sofa gets stuck. Our crew takes apart what needs to come apart, photographs the setup first, and bags and tags the hardware for each piece. Doors come off their hinges when a tight turn calls for it, and go back on before we leave.
Townhome-style units also hold more than their bedroom count suggests. The garage, the closet under the stairs, and a small patio shed can add up to a pickup load on their own, so open them before we price the job.
The newer mid-rise: the garage question
Buildings with a parking garage beneath the apartments raise an early question: where does a moving truck stop? A garage built for cars may not clear a box truck, and the front of the building may face a busy street. Ask the property manager where movers should load, and whether there is a side door or loading area closer to the elevator. Elevator reservations and insurance certificates are covered on our apartment moving page. The part we need from you for a Beaverton mid-rise is the answer about the truck.

Evening Apartment Moves and Beaverton's Parking Code
Beaverton's city code has a line about trucks that bears on moving day. Section 6.02.310(C) of the Beaverton Code says no person shall park or stand a motor truck, as defined by the Oregon Vehicle Code, on a street between 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. in front of or adjacent to a residence, motel, apartment house, hotel or other sleeping accommodation. We are not the right people to explain how that applies to a given address, so we treat it as a scheduling note and leave the interpretation to the city.
Here is what that means for how we book. We generally avoid planning late-night street-side loading at Beaverton apartments. Our evening rate begins at 7 PM, and an evening slot can still make sense when the truck waits in a complex lot or a loading area, or when a small unit will be finished well before 9. If the evening is the only time your schedule allows and the only place to stop is the street, tell us on the call. We would rather start earlier in the day than plan a move that conflicts with that window.
Beaverton Apartment Moving Rates
Three things set the price of a Beaverton apartment move: how many movers you book, how long the carry from each building takes, and whether the job runs in the daytime, the evening, or on a Sunday.
Price my Beaverton apartment moveMoving crew and truck: Monday–Saturday, 7 AM–7 PM
- 2 movers + truck: $150.35 per hour · 3 movers + truck: $206.75 per hour · 4 movers + truck: $263.15 per hour
- 3-hour minimum · $56.40 per hour for each additional mover or packer
- Evenings after 7 PM Mon–Sat, and Sundays (3-hour minimum): $195.20 / $273.40 / $351.60 per hour
- Holiday rate (3-hour minimum): $230.50 / $325.50 / $420.50 per hour
A one-bedroom with a short walk to the truck can be a two-mover job. A townhome-style unit with a garage, or a garden-complex unit far from the lot, may finish sooner with three, and we explain which one on the call. Packers are available at $56.40 per hour each if you want the kitchen boxed before the truck arrives. The drive from our yard is part of the hours, at the same rate as the crew.
You will not see a fee for the third-floor walk-up, the elevator building or the private townhome stair on a local move. There is no fuel charge, no deposit to hold the date, and no premium for the last days of the month.

Released Value, Replacement Cost and Claims
Ask us about coverage before moving day, while there is still time to choose. Released value at $0.60 per pound is the legal floor, not a plan. Replacement-cost protection is available if you choose to purchase it. We will submit a claim upon request.
When the New Apartment Is in Hillsboro or Portland
An apartment move that starts in Beaverton can end somewhere else on the west side or across the hills in Portland. A move like that joins two buildings with different layouts, so we price each end on its own terms.
Heading west to Hillsboro
Both addresses sit close to our yard, so the drive between them is a small slice of the day. The bigger variable is the building type at each end. A garden-complex unit in Beaverton going into a Hillsboro mid-rise, for example, means a long walk out and an elevator in, and we plan the crew for the harder of the two.
Heading east to Portland
The drive in adds time between the two addresses, and Portland buildings and streets come with their own planning questions. Tell us the Portland address on the first call so the estimate reflects both ends. If a notice from a Portland landlord is behind the move, our Portland apartment page covers the dates involved.

Beaverton Apartment Questions
Does the 9 PM truck rule cover my complex's parking lot?
The code section refers to streets. Whether a private lot or drive falls under it is a question for the City of Beaverton or your property manager. What we need is simply where the truck will stand, and we schedule from there.
Can Patrick see the unit before we book?
For bigger jobs, yes, and the walk-through is free. A large townhome-style rental with a full garage is a good candidate. A studio or one-bedroom can be priced over the phone.
My mother is moving into a Beaverton apartment with a lift chair and a walker. Can you handle those?
Yes. Lift chairs and mobility equipment move with the rest of the household, and a family member can set up the move and be the contact for it.
Our lease ends on a Sunday. Does that change the price?
Sundays bill at the evening card shown above, the same as weekday evenings after 7 PM. Saturdays bill at the standard daytime rate, so moving out a day early can lower the hourly cost.
