The furniture in a Tualatin apartment move was not always bought for an apartment. A sectional that filled a family room, a king bed from a house on a cul-de-sac, a china hutch from a parent's dining room: each one has to clear an entry door, a hallway turn and a stair landing or elevator before it reaches the new living room. A tape measure and 10 minutes before moving day settle a lot of those questions on paper.
Our crews bring the tools for that job. We take furniture apart and put it back together as part of the hourly rate, so a piece that will not fit whole can still make it inside.

Three Measurements to Take Before the Truck Comes
You do not need a floor plan. Write down three numbers from the new apartment, or ask the leasing office for them, and measure the pieces you are unsure about.
1. The narrowest door on the path
That might be the building entry, the unit door or a bedroom door. Measure the clear opening with the door standing open, since the door itself takes up an inch or two. Compare it with the depth of your sofa, which matters more than the length, because long pieces are carried through on their side.
2. The tightest turn
A straight hallway is easy. The trouble spot is the corner where a hallway meets the unit door, or the landing where a stair doubles back. Note the width of the hall and whether there is any room to swing a long piece past the corner. A photo of that spot, sent before the estimate, tells the crew more than a description can.
3. The elevator or the stairwell
If the building has an elevator, the inside depth and the door width are the numbers that count. Tall pieces like a wardrobe or a headboard may need to ride upright or come apart. If the unit is up a stairwell, measure the width between the handrails and check the ceiling height at the landing.
What happens when a number comes up short
Many large pieces come apart. Sectionals split into sections, table legs come off, bed frames break down to rails, and an apartment door can be lifted out of its frame for an inch or two of extra clearance. Before a piece is taken down, the crew photographs how it goes together, and the screws and brackets are placed in a marked bag that travels with it. Some pieces, like a one-piece recliner or a glued armoire, cannot come apart. Those are better settled before the move, by selling them, passing them to family, or choosing where else they will live.
Moving a Full Household Into a Tualatin Apartment
Not every Tualatin apartment is a studio. Plambeck Gardens opened in April 2025 on SW Plambeck Terrace in the Basalt Creek area of southeast Tualatin, with 116 affordable apartments in two four-story buildings. Its mix runs from one bedroom to four, including 22 three- and four-bedroom homes designed for families.
We do not speak for any building's move-in rules, and residents should get those from their property manager. What we can describe is the move itself. A three- or four-bedroom apartment holds close to a house's worth of beds and dressers, carried through shared halls and entries.
Size the crew to the bedrooms
A household with bunk beds, a crib, several dressers and a dining table can outgrow a two-mover crew quickly, even in an apartment. Three or four movers keep more pieces moving at once, so the job finishes in fewer hours. On the call, we count the beds and the large pieces, not only the bedrooms, and recommend the crew size that keeps the total hours down.
Label by person as well as by room
When four bedrooms become four smaller rooms, boxes marked only "bedroom" end up in a pile in the hall. Writing a name on each one lets the crew set it in the right room on the first trip.
Keep a path open for the children and the neighbors
In a shared building, the hallway outside your door is also used by other families. The crew tries to keep furniture moving through common areas rather than parked there, and floor runners and door-jamb guards protect the entry and your unit.

Tualatin Apartment Moving Prices
We publish one hourly card for Tualatin, so a studio off Martinazzi and a four-bedroom unit in the Basalt Creek area are priced the same way. Your total depends on the number of movers, the job's duration, and the time of day you book.
Price my Tualatin apartment moveMoving crew and truck: Monday–Saturday, 7 AM–7 PM
- 2 movers + truck: $150.35 per hour · 3 movers + truck: $206.75 per hour · 4 movers + truck: $263.15 per hour
- 3-hour minimum · $56.40 per hour for each additional mover or packer
- Evenings after 7 PM Mon–Sat, and Sundays (3-hour minimum): $195.20 / $273.40 / $351.60 per hour
- Holiday rate (3-hour minimum): $230.50 / $325.50 / $420.50 per hour
Disassembly and reassembly are inside those hourly rates, so a sectional that has to come apart does not add a separate charge, only the minutes it takes. If you want the kitchen packed, packers are $56.40 per hour each. There is no fee for stairs, elevators or month-end dates on a local move, no fuel charge, and no deposit.

Released Value, Replacement Cost and Claims
That hutch or heirloom dresser is the right thing to ask about before moving day. The standard coverage pays by weight: released value at $0.60 per pound is the legal floor, not a plan. Replacement-cost protection is available if you choose to purchase it. We will submit a claim upon request.

Moving Between Two Tualatin Apartments
A move from one Tualatin complex to another, say from an older complex to a newer building on the south side, is short on driving and long on doorways. The measuring above matters twice, because the piece has to leave one unit and enter another.
Line up the keys and the lease days
The cleanest version has the new keys in hand before the old unit empties. If the dates overlap by a day or two, move the furniture first and leave the last closet and the cleaning for later. When the crew handles both addresses on the same day, it all counts toward a single 3-hour minimum.
Use the short drive to your advantage
If the new unit is smaller, set aside what is not coming before the crew arrives, so it is not loaded onto the truck at all.
Two buildings, two sets of questions
Moving across town within Tualatin still means two properties, each with its own procedures. Ask both managers where a moving truck may stop and whether either building wants notice of the move date. Send us what they tell you, and the plan for each end is ready before the crew leaves the yard.
Check the new unit before the first carry
Walk the new apartment when you get the keys. Record any existing scuffs using your landlord's move-in checklist, and confirm the measurements you took earlier against the real doors and halls. Then you know exactly where the sofa goes, and whether it goes in whole.

Tualatin Apartment Questions
What if the sofa still will not fit on moving day?
We stop before anything gets forced, show you what we found, and talk through the choices, such as removing legs or cushions, trying a different path, or leaving the piece on the truck while you decide.
Can you move our TV?
Yes, in a TV box at $55.85 per use, or $199.65 if you want to keep the box. Take the TV off its wall mount before moving day; we don't install mounts.
Can I send photos instead of measuring?
Photos help, especially of the tightest corner and the stair or elevator. Numbers are still better for the largest pieces, so if you can, add the sofa's depth and the width of the narrowest door.
What Our Customers Say
Send the Measurements, Get a Plan
The door width, the tightest turn, and the elevator or stairwell are the numbers that shape a Tualatin apartment plan. Have them next to you, along with your largest pieces, and call (503) 506-4149; Patrick or someone at the office picks up from 7 AM until 10 PM daily. We can talk through which of your pieces will probably need to come apart while you still have the tape measure out.
