Since August 3, 2026, there is no warning period for on-street parking in downtown Beaverton.
What that changes about moving an office here is the question you have to answer before you pick a date. Where does the truck stand while your office comes out of the building?
Butterfield Moving is a licensed family company based in Hillsboro. We move suites and small offices by the hour on the same published card we use for a house, and the plan below starts at the curb and works inward.

The Downtown Beaverton Curb, and the Question It Forces
The adopted plan covers downtown Beaverton including Old Town, Broadway and Beaverton Central. Its record of what the city has already changed on the street in the Broadway blocks is short and exact: additional ADA spaces, additional 30-minute spaces, and "all other spaces are 2-hour parking, except with a valid on-street permit." Two hours covers a lunch. An office move is a day.
So the first thing we ask about each of your two buildings is whether it has loading of its own. Where it does, the truck stands on private pavement for as long as the job takes, the crew size follows the volume, and the route from the suite to the dock, and the date turns on the building's access hours. Where it does not, the truck stands in a signed on-street space on the posted clock; the crew size depends on how fast the block has to be cleared; and the date turns on whatever regulation is posted on that block face. One of your addresses is usually in each camp, and we plan the whole day around the harder one.
Who is watching the block now, and since when
The change is not a new rule. It is a new operation. On May 5, 2026, the city council approved a contract with LAZ Parking Northwest to serve as downtown Beaverton's parking compliance operator. A warning period ran from July 20 to August 1, and from August 3, the warnings stopped. A downtown block that used to absorb a truck for an afternoon without anybody noticing is now on somebody's round. That is why we settle where the truck stands before we quote the job, and why we put the answer in writing on the estimate.
The painted lane behind the building is not a fallback
The other habit is backing into the striped lane at the rear of a building because nobody parks there. Beaverton City Code 6.02.250(C) bans parking in or blocking a marked fire lane, fire apparatus access road, or access curb, on a street or on any premises open to the public. That lane is empty because it has to be. Our crews will not put a truck in one, and a plan that quietly depends on it will fail at nine in the morning.
The citation schedules the city publishes
A downtown citation starts at $45 paid within 14 calendar days, and the city's compliance page says it has to be contested within 30 calendar days of issuance. The city publishes the second band two ways: $65 after 14 days on its compliance page, $65 for payment within 15 to 60 days in Parking Regulations in Beaverton City Code. We quote neither as settled.
That schedule is also the wrong one to plan a truck around. Beaverton City Code 6.02.310(A) covers parking "in violation of state motor vehicle laws" or in violation of "a lawfully erected parking limitation sign," and fines there run from $115 to $465. A fire hydrant and an ADA stall are our own reading of what that catches at the curb, since the section names neither. A box truck taking up a downtown block face ends up across from a hydrant. The number that hurts hardest is still the hourly one, because a truck moved off a block mid-load stops the job while it goes and the crew is on the clock for the whole detour.

What a Beaverton Office Move Costs

- 2 movers + truck: $150.35 per hour · 3 movers + truck: $206.75 per hour · 4 movers + truck: $263.15 per hour
- 3-hour minimum · $56.40 per hour for each additional mover or packer
- Evenings after 7 PM Mon–Sat, and Sundays (3-hour minimum): $195.20 / $273.40 / $351.60 per hour
- Holiday rate (3-hour minimum): $230.50 / $325.50 / $420.50 per hour
The drive time from our Hillsboro yard is included in the hours and billed at the same hourly rate as the crew.

Why the crew size follows the curb answer
With loading off the street, a smaller crew working a longer day is a real option, because nothing outside the building is counting the minutes. On a public-frontage address, the arithmetic turns over. On an hourly bill, the hours are the thing you are buying, and a bigger crew spends fewer of them standing on the block. We will say on the estimate call which of the two your addresses call for.
Released Value, Replacement Cost and Claims
Released value at $0.60 per pound is the legal floor, not a plan. Replacement-cost protection is available if you choose to purchase it. We will submit a claim upon request.

How a Beaverton Office Move Is Put Together
Who owns the ground floor while the truck is outside
With its own loading, a building lets the crew work at their own pace and pull from the suite as they go. On a public-frontage address, the ground floor becomes part of the job, and it needs a name against it on each side: our lead keeps the load moving and the walk clear, and somebody from your office keeps the fire exits clear and answers what a label cannot. We ask for that second name on the estimate, not in the morning.
One detail about that ground floor belongs on the estimate call: whether a loaded cart has to be lifted over a threshold on the way out. A lip at the door turns a rolling job into a lifting job, which is a crew-size question and an hours question, and it is far easier to price in advance than to discover on the morning.
One room at a time, labeled for the far end
Each trip out takes a defined set: a room, a bank of files, a set of workstations. Cartons and cases carry the destination room. The origin room helps no one at the far end because the crew there has never seen your old floor. Keeping a single room together also keeps the unload honest, since the truck comes off in the order it went on and each drop lands in one place.
The two ends are rarely alike, and the harder one sets the order
A firm leaving a plaza suite on the edge of town for a floor in Old Town has one easy end and one hard one. That is a workable shape, because the hard end gets the plan and the easy end absorbs the slack. We choose the order we load at the easy address for the sake of the unload at the hard one, which is the reverse of how a house gets loaded.

Beaverton Office Move Questions
Our building has its own lot behind it. Do we still have to plan around the curb?
No, and that is the better problem to have. If the truck can stand on private pavement for the duration, the move is planned on volume and building access hours like any other.
Is there a permit that reserves the curb for a moving truck in Beaverton?
Not today. Nothing the city issues will hold a space for a moving truck, and its downtown on-street permit program does not do that either. The adopted Downtown Parking Plan lists one of the things the city should build. Under a strategy titled "Manage Construction Activity and Temporary Use at the Curb," the plan notes that downtown curb demand includes temporary uses for construction, moving, and events, and the action below it would introduce a digital temporary-use permit application for temporary curb uses, with moving containers among the examples it gives. There is nothing to apply for while that remains a plan, so this answer may change. Until then, we plan to follow the regulation posted on your block face.
Is our new suite inside the area this covers?
The Downtown Parking Plan names Old Town, Broadway, and Beaverton Central. If your address sits in one of those, the curb belongs in the move plan, and we read the posted regulation on your own block face, since it varies street by street. A plaza elsewhere in the city is outside the compliance program.
How long can the truck actually hold a downtown space?
As long as the sign on that block face allows, which on the Broadway blocks the adopted plan records as two hours unless a space is marked otherwise. An office move is longer than that. If the truck has to be moved before the suite is empty, it gets moved, and those minutes are on the clock like any others. We read your block face before the date, so the plan for it is settled well before the morning of moving.
What Our Customers Say
We Read the Block Face Before We Price the Job
On a downtown address, the first thing we do with your two addresses is read the frontage outside each one: what is posted on that block face, how long it lasts, and where a box truck can legally stand for the length of a load. That reading is what the estimate is built on, which is why ours shows where the truck will be standing, not just the hours. Call (503) 506-4149 and we will start there.
