For almost 90 years, Clackamas County's circuit court operated from the courthouse on Main Street. In May 2025, the court opened in a new building on the county's Red Soils campus, and the old one downtown closed. For a law office, a title company, a court reporter, or any business whose week runs through that building, the map changed. This page covers how to move with the file room in order and the filing calendar in view.
Oregon City is 40 to 50 minutes from our Hillsboro yard, which rules out same-day work here: the day after you call is the earliest we book, and how soon after that depends on the week. Ask for Patrick when you call, because he handles the walk-through on a larger office.

What Changed When the Court Left Main Street
The new address: 1000 Courthouse Road
The county's new circuit courthouse sits at 1000 Courthouse Road on the Red Soils campus. It opened to the public on May 19, 2025, with 16 courtrooms, offices for the district attorney and a new home for the law library. For an office whose staff used to walk a filing to the clerk or check a citation in the law library, those errands now point to the Red Soils campus in a different part of town. The county also places the courthouse steps away from co-located services such as social services, behavioral health and public health, so a family-law client may now handle a hearing and a county appointment in one trip.
The 1936 building on Main Street
The old courthouse at 807 Main Street was built in 1936, and a 2015 seismic evaluation found numerous structural deficiencies. It was designed for a county of fewer than 50,000 people, and Clackamas County now has more than 430,000. The county sold the property, and demolition was underway in 2026. For an office on that stretch of Main Street, whether it is moving out or changing suites in the same block, the practical question is the curb. Demolition hauling takes street space that a moving truck also wants, and the block can look different on move day than it did at the walk-through, so the stand gets settled again in the week of the move.
What goes wrong on a court-facing move
Wherever a court-facing office lands, the same things go wrong: a file room that arrives out of order, a load-out that eats into the week's counter business, and a move date that runs into a hearing. We have a fix for each of them below, and one of them is a measurement worth taking while the lease is still a draft: the shelves and cabinets you plan to keep full, so the new file room holds them with room to grow.

How We Move a Court-Facing Office in Oregon City
The call and walk-through.
Patrick asks about the file room first. Tell us the drawer count and the number of closed-file boxes, because in a court-facing office those tell him more about the shape of the day than the desk count does. He also asks which cabinets are too heavy to move full, and which hearings or closings fall in the weeks around the move. He walks both suites for larger offices and writes down door widths, stairs, elevators, and parking.
The box index.
Your team numbers every file box and maintains a list, noting which boxes contain active matters. Our labels carry that number plus the destination room, so the index and the truck agree, and a missing number is easy to spot before the crew leaves.
Load-out after hours.
Evening and weekend load-outs keep the phones and the front desk working during the day. Hours after 7 PM Monday to Saturday bill in the evening column of the card below. Each workstation is tagged with its room in the new suite.
The index check.
Before the truck pulls out, someone from your office reads the box numbers in the new file room against the list. If a number is missing from a shelf, say so while the crew is still in the building, because that is the easiest time to go looking for it.
File Rooms and Court Dates
Active files ride last and land first
The files your team will need on Monday go on the truck at the end of the load, so they come off first and go straight to the desks that use them. Closed files, archive boxes, and old exhibits go on early and can wait in the new storage room. If a hearing is set for the week after the move, tell us, and that matter's boxes get their own color of label, so they are the first ones found.
The court sets the calendar. You set the move.
A trial date, a filing deadline, or a closing does not bend around a moving truck, and a setting eight weeks out can be reset by the court in the very week you planned to load. That is why the booking terms matter more in a court-facing office than in almost any other job we take on. We hold a date without a deposit, and rescheduling is free with one to two weeks of notice.
So the booking is made early and loosely. We take a first weekend and a second weekend on the same call, both in weeks with nothing set for trial, and hold the first one. If a continuance or a new setting lands on it, you are calling to move a date you already hold. Both dates go to your staff at the same time, so a change is something they were warned about in advance. If the move slides to the second date, the estimate remains unchanged. The rate column can move, though: a date that lands after 7 PM, on a Sunday or on a holiday carries that column's rate, and we price both dates when you pick them.
Working with the court's hours
The courthouse building is open 7 AM to 5 PM on weekdays, and the public service counters run 9 AM to 4 PM, with the court noting that some counter hours vary. A Friday evening or Saturday load-out lets staff finish the week's counter business, and the new office can be set up before the counters open Monday. Price that choice with the card in front of you: hours after 7 PM Monday to Saturday bill in the evening column at $195.20, $273.40 or $351.60 for two, three or four movers with a truck, on the same 3-hour minimum, while a Saturday that finishes by 7 PM stays in the standard column.
Title and escrow offices have a second clock. The Recording Division is open 8:30 AM to 5 PM on weekdays and stops recording documents at 4:30 PM. If your team carries documents there, keep the last business day before the move free of recordings that cannot slip, and pack the recording supplies in a box that stays with a staff member. Filings that go in by hand are safest early in the move week.
Put the three closing times on one line and the last working day plans themselves: the public counters close at 4 PM, recording ends at 4:30, and the court building is locked at 5. A load-out that starts once those are shut costs the week nothing, because every errand that had a deadline is already done. That is the argument to make to a building manager who would rather see the truck on a Tuesday afternoon, and it is the reason a Friday evening start is worth paying attention to on a court-facing office.

Butterfield Moving is a licensed family company based in Hillsboro. The drive from that yard is part of the hours, billed at the same hourly rate as the crew. On a 40-to-50-minute run, that line is worth reading before you compare two dates, because it is the same either way: the drive does not get shorter on a Saturday, and its minutes are the one part of the bill your move plan cannot shorten.

Released Value, Replacement Cost and Claims
Released value at $0.60 per pound is the legal floor, not a plan. Replacement-cost protection is available if you choose to purchase it. We will submit a claim upon request.

Oregon City Office Move Questions
We are looking at space near Red Soils. Can you see it before we sign?
For a larger office, Patrick can walk the space you are considering as well as your current suite, before the lease is signed. What he is reading is the part a floor plan leaves out: the loading door and what stands between it and the elevator, whether the elevator can be held for a morning, where a truck can stand for a full day, and whether the file room wall will carry the shelving you already own. Those are landlord questions, and they are easier to raise while the lease is still a draft.
How far ahead should a law or title office book?
Two to three weeks gives time for a walk-through and a box index. Let the docket pick the week: a week that follows the end of a trial is worth more than a week that merely looks empty in the diary.
